Hello!
Today I went to vote in the South Carolina primary. For the first time in years I smiled and was happy to cast my vote for a candidate whose values I completely believe in. It was nice not to hold my nose while I pulled the lever (metaphorically speaking in this digital age!).
Throughout this process people have told me over and over that Rick Santorum cannot win and that although they like him and what he stands for, that they’re going to vote for someone who “has a chance.” I find that very funny. My mother always read my brothers and I the Old Testament saying that it was better than anything on TV. Boy was she right. Being married to a man that was raised in the Jewish faith and having in-laws with a rich Jewish heritage has made me love those stories even more. What does this have to do with Rick Santorum? Well, the set up is essentially the same as the current Republican Primary. Rick Santorum has had the deck stacked against him with regards to money, publicity, media coverage, and vicious advisaries. From Moses to Gideon, Judah Maccabee, Joshua, David, Elijah, and Judith and Esther (my favorites), the Jewish people were always the underdogs. They always had hope in the Lord and trusted in HIS faithfulness. In the Old Testament stories, out numbered, out gunned, and out monied, the Jewish people always gave it everything they had and let God take it from there. There are three theological virtues, Faith, Hope and Love. Although the greatest of these is Love, and I think that we all are always striving for that, we must not forget that we are still in battle and for battle, Faith and Hope are also necessary. So, please, pray, then vote for and support the people that espouse your values no matter their “chances”. Give your loaves and fishes, then wait and see Gods faithfulness rewarding your hope. Because after all, “Who is like God?”

Tammy
I hope that everyone had a beautiful and blessed Thanksgiving. My whole family, along with some extended family and wonderful friends, enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! I hope that you and yours did too.
Instead of listing on “Black Friday” I thought I would put up some dolls for the first Sunday of Advent. There are going to be lots more in the works!
Have a wonderful week….here’s to waiting patiently for our loving Savior.
Tammy
PS. Please pray for one friend who lost a father and another who is welcoming new life as I speak. May God continue to bless us all.
Please consider this recent statement by Dr. Dobson regarding Rick Santorum:
We are exactly 6 weeks away from the start of the 2012 presidential nominating process, and as folks across Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina narrow down their choice for president, I wanted to share with you something that conservative leader Dr. James Dobson wrote in his recent newsletter:
At one of the recent presidential debates, all the candidates focused on the economic peril that has gripped our country. America faces a debt of 14 trillion dollars, which can never be repaid. It is significant to note, however, that only six references to the family were made during the event. Former Senator Rick Santorum was responsible for four of them.
Dr. Dobson then quoted the points that I made during the debate:
“The biggest problem with poverty in America…is the breakdown of the American family. You want to look at the poverty rate among families that have two in them [a husband and a wife.] It is five percent today. [By contrast,] a family that is headed by one person is 30 percent. …The word for “home” in Greek is the basis for the word economy. It is the foundation for our country. We need to have a policy that supports families, that encourages marriage…that has fathers take responsibility for their children. You can’t have limited government—you can’t have a wealthy society if the family breaks down—that basic unit of society. And that needs to be included in this economic discussion.”
He went onto say:
That statement is precisely on target. The stability of the family is not only important to the nation’s prosperity, but it is critical to every other component of stability and wellbeing in the culture. It is the life-blood of any democracy.
I am grateful for Dr. Dobson’s affirmation for the point that the stability of the family is critical to our economy’s success. We can’t have a prosperous economy without stable families.
I usually try not to comment on current news in my blog, as I am sure that you all are very well informed and have your favorite sources for news and commentary. However, I decided to post this because I feel that Mr. Santorum is sadly under-represented in most outlets. Please check out his beliefs, history, and voting record. For me, his running is an answer to prayer.
Tammy
PS. There are several dolls in the works and more custom listings to go up in the next few days.
My five year old just put his hand into the Tinker Toy tub and pulled out the following name,
Congratulations to…….

You are the winner of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton doll! She will be winging her way to you tomorrow. I hope you enjoy her and blessings to you during this new school year.
Thank you to everyone who entered. There will be plenty more giveaways in the coming months, stay tuned.
Yours in Christ,
Tammy
I hope that everyone is doing well! I just wanted to let you know that I have several new listings up on ETSY. The dolls are still $18 + $1shipping. Although I am no longer taking long lists of custom requests, I will be placing “custom” listings up in the Etsy shop as I am able to do them. Basically, when you purchase a custom listing you name the saint and I will paint them and have them to your door in 2 weeks or less. That way I get to do “fun stuff”: create new designs and do research, you get the doll in a timely manner, and my family gets home cooked meals
Here are some pics:

May God continue to bless our country on this solemn day. My prayers go out to the souls that were lost and the families that were left behind.
Yours in Christ,
Tammy
Howdy!
I hope that everyone had a lovely Summer!
I took an un-planned Summer vacation. It was wonderful, chasing babies and doing projects with the older kids. Well, it’s back in the saddle and school has started and I am painting again. To get into the groove of schooling I thought I would do a give away…yeah! Mother Seton can be your patroness this Fall:
I am giving away one St. Elizabeth Ann Seton doll to a lucky winner chosen at random. Just send an email to CatholicFolkToys at G mail dot com and spread the word about the give away. I’ll have one of the chickens pick a name from a teacup and I’ll post the winner next week! Good Luck!
I’ll be posting new listings on ETSY this week, stay tuned. May God bless all of you with your schooling and Fall projects.
Yours in Christ,
Tammy
PS. The spammers have found me so, all comments have been temporarily shut down. Thank you for your patience!
Hello!

Shannon, please zip an email to me with your physical address so that I can send her off.
Thank you to everyone for participating. I will be using your favorites to get ideas for new dolls and those whom you would like to see again. I had such a good time reading your responses. There will be more give aways in the future, please check back.
Yours in Christ,
Tammy
First, I forgot that you’ve got until Sunday to email me for the give-away. On Monday I’ll get one of the kids to draw a name and I’ll post the winner.

For more information, please go to the SmartMartha site. It’s sure to be wonderful!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Yours in Christ,

This week I am trying to wrap up those last few custom lists. As a thank you to all of you wonderful customers/friends, instead of listing dolls for purchase, I thought I would give away a Blessed Mother Theresa doll that needs a home. Rules…..let’s see, maybe you could just email (CatholicFolkToys at gmail dot com) a note to me with your favorite saint and if you want, spread the word through your contacts about the give away. A extra rosary dedicated to the people of Japan would be wonderful as well! I’ll post the winner on Monday March 21st.
Thank you for all of your support!
Yours in Christ,
Tammy
Hello!
I hope that everyone had a blessed beginning to Lent. We’re recovering from our little sickness and I am weaning myself and the kids off of sugar and TV (my husband has incredible will power and doesn’t have much of a problem with sugar or TV ;P
This weekend I am putting up St. Josephine Bakhita (who was supposed to go up late February) and St. Patrick just in time for his feast day. I will do a free shipping upgrade to priority so that he can make it to you in time!

I have been thinking about the concept of “sackcloth and ashes” this Lent. Honestly, whenever I pray for the future of this country and an end to abortion, that’s the phrase that keeps popping into my head. So, with that in mind, I am making a challenge to anyone that wants to try it. What about taking away some of the embellishment out of our lives for Lent as a reparation for pride and turning away from God? In addition to my Lenten sacrifices, I am going to stop wearing makeup, jewelry, and my fancier clothes in exchange for a few (approx. 10) plain pieces of clothing and a few pairs of shoes. What do you think? If you like the idea and would like to give it a go, please email me and we’ll encourage each other and maybe share a few ideas. Pass the word along and who knows what can happen!
May God bless and comfort the people of Japan and may the Blessed Mother guard and protect those that are left in this “veil of tears”.
Yours in Christ,
Tammy
